Sharon Stone, 57, on Her Recent Nude Shoot: ‘It’s Good to Like the Airbrusher’

Sharon Stone has never been a afraid of showing some skin. (Here she is wearing a bikini while sanding a table.) In fact, she’s been getting more comfortable baring all with age. Proof: Her now-famous nude shoot for September’s Harper’s Bazaar, which Stephen Colbert had to ask her about on The Late Show Wednesday night.

“How do you get the confidence,” Colbert asked the actress. “I’m 51 and won’t let anyone see me without socks on — I have old man ankles. You don’t seem to be phased at all. You’re all the way nude here,” he added holding up the photos.

“I do have a necklace on,” Stone, 57, quipped back, before explaining that her confidence comes from within. “The key to happiness is to first accept yourself. By the time you’re in your 50’s you gotta like it…then what? I think if you’re gonna like others you’ve got to like yourself,” she continued.

“There’s a lot to like there,” Colbert responded.

Stone did conclude that anytime you’re going in the buff, you have to make sure you know your good angles — and the person who will be retouching your photos.

“It’s also good to like the airbrusher,” she shared.

In her interview with the magazine, she said that she wasn’t trying to be perfect.

“I’m aware that my ass looks like a bag of flapjacks,” Stone told the mag. “But I’m not trying to be the best-looking broad in the world. At a certain point you start asking yourself, ‘What really is sexy?’ It’s not just the elevation of your boobs. It’s being present and having fun and liking yourself enough to like the person that’s with you. If I believed that sexy was trying to be who I was when I did Basic Instinct, then we’d all be having a hard day today.”
