TÖME – “The Money”

Published

on

Meet Michelle Oluwatomi Akanbi, better known as the singer TÖME, known for her powerful vocals and poetic sing-a-long music. Today, the rising-star unveils her best work yet in the new single, titled, “The Money”.

The song exhibits growth, vulnerability and empowerment. Equipped with an unfamiliar international sound that separates her from the rest of the pack of new school R&B. On “The Money,” we see TÖME evolve into the superstar she was destined to become from the moment she sang her first note.

Hailing from Montreal, TÖME credits her influences to today’s legendary R&B singers Lauryn Hill, Fela Kuti, Erykah Badu and Alicia Keys. Throughout 2019, TÖME had the pleasure of joining award-winning mega Afro-beats artist, Wizkid, on his 2019 Canadian Tour and legendary Mr. Eazi in for his 2019 Europe Tour, performed at the Wembley SSE, London at the Burnaboy Concert as well as exciting performances at Afrofest 2019, Uppsala Reggae Festival 2019 in Sweden and SXSW 2019 in Texas.

On her well-blended sound, she says, “I want to change the game musically in
the mid-American industry by creating a genre slowly being recognized, Afro-Fusion”.

“The Money,” available now via Kiza Music, is the direct follow-up to TÖME’s debut album, Tomesroom Chapter 1 (2019). The new single is the lead up to a promising sophomore album by the up-and-coming singer, currently untitled. The new project takes TÖME’s image and vibe to a whole new level.
